Through the educational workshops, the soft engineering/conservation buffer project will provide educational workshop participants with a binder containing valuable technical information on the application and the installation of soft engineering methods. Subsequently, this material can be duplicated for further distribution. Participants attending the workshop will be better able to plan, design, and recommend the installation of soft engineering practices. The conservation buffer packets will enable readers to select sites and design filter strips and riparian forest buffers.
The field demonstration projects will provide a "hands on" experience for project participants to actually practice soft engineering and conservation buffer techniques. The completed project worksite will provide a lasting example of the application and installation of soft engineering and conservation buffer methods.
The development of the Soft Engineering/Conservation Buffer Project website will reinforce both the educational and the demonstration parts of the project. Informational resources and a chronological record of the field demonstration projects will be available to the general public via the Internet.
